NULLWIRE
Anonymous Communication Protocol — Pre-Alpha
What NullWire Is
NullWire is a Loopix-based mixnet with a Solana control plane. Messages are routed through a 3-hop Sphinx packet path with configurable Poisson delays and cover traffic. The control plane is decentralized — node registry, validator-backed admission, and operator liveness live on Solana devnet. No central server. No single point of seizure.
What's Proven
Sphinx-routed 3-hop delivery across devices. 2-of-3 validator-backed node admission. Operator-bound uptime attestation. Multi-RPC quorum for directory trust. Cross-device messaging from sender to receiver through relay nodes and gateway mailboxes. Latency benchmarks across three delay profiles.
What's Next
X3DH contact bootstrap and Double Ratchet message-layer encryption. Post-quantum key encapsulation (ML-KEM-1024). Zero-knowledge identity (Groth16). Sealed mailbox polling. These are planned — not shipped yet.
Why Not TOR or Signal?
TOR uses onion routing — three hops, no mixing, no cover traffic. State-level adversaries can correlate timing in minutes. Signal encrypts content but leaks metadata: who you talk to, when, and how often. NullWire's mixnet architecture adds Poisson delays, cover traffic, and fixed-size packets at every hop — making timing correlation fundamentally harder.
